2 people in my DECA event dropped out to do a different event, so me and my partner got bumped up to top 3.

Dante's Inferno is an interesting book

We have to read it in my English Class, and it really makes me think.

Dante was really angry at certain people during the time period, so he came up with sins to put them in their specific levels of hell. Example; Dante blamed the former pope, Celestine V, for his exile from Italy, so he put him in the Vestibule of Hell, which is this horrible place where Hornets fly around and sting you, and kind of acts as the entrance to hell.

The next two circles , however, are a bit less harsh. The “Pagans” as they’re called, are just set in a field with some castles, and their punishment is to live without God, like they did in life. However, it’s Circle Two that’s pretty interesting. The lustful are blown around by a windstorm, which seems a lot better than being stung over and over by hornets. Dante did this because of his own life, and love for another woman (Beatrice) who he writes into the book as the divine love of god. He might have known he was guilty of Lust, and wrote in the second Circle to be a bit more lenient than the Vestibule.

So yeah. It’s a really odd book.
